The Belize Friends School

I'm BACK! And it was an amazing trip. I want to thank all of you who supported this mission with money, prayer and support of all kinds. The Belize Friends School, run by Sam & Becky Barber and Candi Young, received a check for over $600 US!
The kids at the school were so much fun to meet and to work with. You'll see them in the videos that are posted on Quantum Healing Chiropractic's Facebook page. I'll try to get some posted here too.

The damage from the hurricane was mostly water and mud on the school's ground floor. Many posters and text books were lost and some were drying out upstairs. You will be amazed at how the school works with 25 children, some illiterate, to get them ready to go into "college". This is the British system so the children test in 8th grade in order to be accepted into high schools called colleges, around the city.

Belize City is pretty depressed on the south side. There are gangs and violent crime. And as my seatmate on the plane to Miami told me "If someone owed me money down there, I'd let them keep it!" Meaning he wouldn't venture to the area where the school is. But this is where the need is greatest so this is where the school is.

There is also an empty building just behind the school. Dale Graves, also visiting, from Indiana, was able to meet with the owner and find out if he was willing to sell and for what price. The next step is an appraisal of the building. With it renovated it would be perfect for the school! And as I looked at this shell of a building I imagine it with classrooms and guest teachers that I had recruited, the yard filled with smiling faces on morning break and lots of laughing.
With God all things are possible, even a great Friends School in the heart of Belize City!

BELIZE IT OR NOT

I'm getting pretty excited because I'm leaving today for Belize!
The Barbers are reporting 25 students and 4 are girls! This is
pretty big news. They haven't had that many students enrolled at the
school before. It's going to be a wonderful adventure.
When I get back I'll be doing a program at our church, West Branch Friends, so I'll keep you posted in case you want to attend.

If you wanted to contribute to this mission and the school you still can! Just go to my Outreach page and click on DONATE!
All of your prayers and good wishes are much appreciated.

Oh, and Hurricane Richard, you don't scare me!

Lately I've posted a couple of photos of my bonus daughters. They are two of the smartest, funniest, most beautiful women I know! They 've overcome so much in their young lives and have given me so much! I have been able to witness their blossoming from being afraid to be themselves because of the consequences that might have, into the sensitive, nurturing, ambitious, passionate, gorgeous flowers they are now.
The photos are from pre-teen years when we all feel awkward and geeky. They remind me that everyone, no matter how they feel about themselves, is a powerful transmitter for change and that we can choose what and who we will become.
Thanks bonus daughters for the privilege of participating in your lives.
I love you!

How to Experience Perfection

What is the feeling of perfection? Is it a noun or a verb? Perfecting something is to practice it over and over.

There was a story I saw about a man who made the most sublime noodles in China. He bent and strained his body in the perfecting of the noodles. He was de-formed by the process. Or reformed or informed but certainly not escaping being shaped by the thing he chose to do most.

What do you choose to do most? What is forming you? What are you bending to and allowing into your attention? Does it buoy you in times of stress? Does it bring out more peace, joy, love?

If we look at perfection as a thing we can never attain then why would anyone bother? Our perfection is already here. It's in the way our bodies knit together from just two other cells. It's in the way our innate intelligence knows that this part will be an eyelash cell and this part will be a little toe cell. This is the perfection with which we are made. We don't have to learn how to do it because the part of us that is connected to all of creation is our subconscious and it is running all the time. We can communicate with it through feelings and visualization or daydreams.

When you spend just five minutes thinking about a place you'd like to be or a place that you felt comfortable, loved and fulfilled, you are creating that experience cellularly as well.

Try this: close your eyes and think of a time when you experienced the most love and acceptance you can remember ever having. Give yourself some time to expand on this thought. It can be a real time or imaginary. Take inventory of your five senses in this time. What does it smell like there? What is the temperature? Are you inside or outside? Are there others with you? What sounds and colors are around you? Take your time and really experience in your thoughts and feelings of this time of love and acceptance.

Now let yourself come back to this reading. You may feel more peaceful, relaxed and warm. You are getting in touch with the perfect part of you that helps to create what you are thinking.

We are in the process of perfecting ourselves and enjoying that can be perfection!

Renee talks about OCD

Sometimes we encounter problems/symptoms that seem like they come out of nowhere. They don't. They come from past traumas and interference that has not been addressed. And those challenges can teach us about ourselves.

Do you have a challenge that you don't understand? Come in and find the cause.

No Disease in Perfection!

When one gets to the point that they are ready to really know what is going on with their health and peace of mind that's when the real healing begins! B.E.S.Technique is not a cure it leads one to the perfection with which they were made. And you know there is no disease in perfection.

pH, Anxiety and Depression

For years I have been introducing people to the concept of pH regulation in the body. pH is the potential for hydrogen. But what it means in health is how acid or alkaline our body is at any given time. I have been checking saliva pH during exams for years in order to show people how their emotions play a pivotal role in our body's regulation.

Now a study from the University of Iowa, shows it! The article published by Scientific American describes how this is demonstrated. It also re-enforces that exercise plays a key role in helping anxiety-attack and depression sufferers neutralize the acid build up in the brain causing anxiety.

There is help for anxiety! There is treatment! And it's easy, painless and really works!

Here's what a practice member says, "I have had better feelings and haven't had any anxiety attacks and back pain no longer exists."
This person had an attack on the table during a visit one day and we were able to get it under control and dissipate it painlessly and without drugs. The side effect was RELIEF!!

Fear or Love? Read What Renee has to say!

Stepping Fearlessly

"Do you want to walk in fear, or do you want to walk in love? " asks my dear friend, Dr. Tanya English. I'm not sure if she is the one who coined the phrase or not, regardless, I often hear the words in her voice inside my head. It's a question I pose to myself in the midst of worry or confusion. It helps me to see the intention behind my thinking patterns--to know if I am making choices based on fear or based on Trust, openness, and desire. The latter, of course, being the kinds of choices I wish to now make.

Fear is restrictive. It causes tension in the muscles and in the mind. Fear-based thinking doesn't allow for change or new ideas. And for many of us who are habituated into fear-based thinking, it's often what comes up first.

I was recently invited to take a trip this summer to West Virginia for a music festival, and although I was immediately excited about the prospect, some anxieties quickly crept up. In my 12+ years of mothering, I have yet to take even a weekend vacation without my kids--let alone a camping trip up in the mountains for an entire week. I used to be afraid to leave my children for any length of time because I worried that something would happen to them. And I wanted to make sure I was always near enough--just in case.

One thing my divorce and the subsequent taking turns at child-rearing has taught me over the last year is how to let go of worry and simply Trust that my children will be all right outside of my watchful eye. And they are all right. They are better than all right. They survive without me hovering. They survive, and even thrive, in the hands of others. And their absence often makes me appreciate their presence that much more. So, when I think of leaving them at their dad's for a week while I take a summer road trip, I breathe easy. My perception shifts: they--and I--walk in Love.

When I first read about this music festival that takes place in the mountains in West Virginia, my other knee-jerk, fear-based thoughts were "how am I going to get up there?" and "what if I freak out and can't go any further." My last ride into the mountains years ago had me stuffing my head under a sweatshirt, hiding tears from my then 4-year-old daughter. I began to wonder if I was going to be reliving that scenario. And camping? The closest I had ever come to sleeping in a tent was hanging out in my friend's backyard in 7th grade until my parents came to get me at midnight. So "how will I shit in a port-o-potty?" and "who is going to tell the mosquitoes to leave me alone for 4 days?" suddenly seemed like really logical questions to have.

But I stopped myself and posed a different question. That one about walking in fear or walking in love. I thought about all the amazing adventures I could have on this trip, like seeing parts of the country I've never been to and the prospects of jamming with some incredible musicians. I thought about how luxurious the scenery would be at nightfall and the tranquility that would wash over me as I doze off to sleep under a starlit sky. I thought about all the notebook paper I would fill, being able to catch the wind of inspiration at any given time.

I also thought about the company I would be keeping along the way, and realized that a part of me was fearing my own fears. Having been ridiculed and unaccepted by others in the past for having anxieties, I realized I was worried about my fears being intolerable to my travelling companion. But that, too, is fearful thinking. Instead, I needed to simply allow myself to feel the fear and then still choose to walk in love. Only from there can I accept my Self wholly and step into another grand adventure. It is one step at a time, this shift from fear to love, and when I step into life with an open heart, what I find is that I am met with the same openness and acceptance as I emit.

Author of "Chicken Soup" talks about B.E.S.Technique

Jack Canfield co-author of "Chicken Soup for the Soul" talks about how Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique has changed his life. Dr. M.T. Morter, Jr., the founder and developer of B.E.S.T. technique, and his children, Dr. Ted, Dr. Sue, along with Dr. Blake Brown are, like me, passionate about helping people break through to their own power for healing.

We are all healers and neutralizing interference to that power creates an internal environment that allows healing to be present. And...it's for EVERYONE!

Trusting the Inner Self

Trust-reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety, etc., of a person or thing; confidence.

Trust is a wonderful thing. In fact it's what most people base their relationships on whether it's trusting that one is getting what they pay for or that one can trust their own parents.

Trust is also a letting go of fear. FEAR = False Expectations Appearing Real; a letting go of the past and a letting go of worry about the future. There are many that have had that trust broken through no fault of their own. But they still have to learn to trust again. Stepping out in faith that it will be ok to trust another is a big deal.

Survivors of childhood abuse have to overcome low self esteem, unhealthy self image, and all the coping strategies that have kept them alive and, hopefully, moving forward. When they do make this leap of faith all the universe is behind that step helping it happen. As adults we must be able to trust the process of healing. We must be able to trust that our intention to heal will not lead us into more dis-ease or worse yet denial of the real problem. We must be able to let go of our fears that are based on "real" experiences but are not the same as what is happening now.

Trust your highest self to lead you into the most benevolent situation when you call upon it. Even if you have never been able to trust before when you call upon the part of you that IS trustworthy, it will not let you down.

No Way, No How.

Are you smarter than a 6th grader?

Have you ever heard someone say this about their own health, "I'm not really qualified to make that decision."? Maybe in a self deprecating way that laughs off their feeling of inadequacy when addressing their own health and healing?
Most people have about a 6th grade idea of how the body works. Some, many, have less facts than that. But people can understand how it works. It's like having an owner's manual and not leaving out the facts. Here are several facts most people have not thought about before:

1. People are not the same as machines. Humans have animation (animātiō a bestowing of life) They are alive.

2. People have feelings. Thoughts with emotions become feelings. The human nervous system, the part of ourselves that we feel everything with is so dense that if every other part of was taken away a person would still be identifiable. We are walking, talking and experiencing every facet of life and feeling it too!

3. Treating people like machines is detrimental to their health. Constantly and consistently going after the symptom is not the same as going after the cause. One can buy sponges if the roof leaks but where is the common sense in that?

4. The cause is always in spirit first. We begin as spirit, as two cells that merge together to create one cell and we are evolving continually, and that means that the way we interpret everything that happens to us is through our feelings, whether or not we can vocalize them or whether they become buried in the mundaness of daily life. So Spirit, Memory, Mind and Body is the correct flow, above-down, inside-out is how healing and disease both occur.

5. Spirit is where one finds it. When making choices in our lives it can really help to ask oneself how does this choice feel? And taking a moment to breathe and be present is the way one listens to Spirit. It is as easy as breathing. And breathing is the most important function the body has. And Humans get to have control over it! Unlike kidney function. Well, actually its very much like kidney function except the conscious mind isn't really in charge of most bodily functions. For example a mother doesn't decide when to make the baby's liver. It just happens.

6. Subconscious mind is the interface between body and Spirit. This part of the mind is accessed by feelings and pictures (visualizations). And this is where it is so easy to get into healing. Because thoughts create chemistry and chemistry influences every function of the body, e v e r y f u n c t i o n.

With the power of this understanding come responsibility. Knowing this we now have the power to make our choices. We can choose what we want to experience. Making a decision to not allow this understanding and remain stuck in our limiting beliefs is also a decision. Most of us know someone that doesn't want to be confused with facts. They will hold on to their limiting belief even if it kills them, literally.
This proverb showed up yesterday: Cynics look high and low for wisdom-and never find it; the open minded find it right on their doorstep!
This is from the book of Proverbs in the old testament. Yup, the Bible has encouragement to be open minded. Did that throw anyone off? Did you have a limiting belief challenged there? Good for you! That's the power of allowing. Allowing creates a space for healing to happen. And guess who are the greatest healers - children. They have no limiting beliefs. They are ready for whatever to happen and to believe!
So are you smarter than a 6th grader?

Can you help people heal? YES!

Dear Friends,
For over 20 years I have been working to bring healing to more and more people. Through massage and then chiropractic including Activator Methods Technique, Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique, chakra balancing, affirmations and Emotional Freedom Technique. I now have a great opportunity to go further.

I have been approved by my Friends meeting ,West Branch Friends Church, to go to Belize on a healing mission to the Friends Boys School from April 13-20. I will be teaching health care classes and delivering health care to the family that runs the school, the students and their families.

Belize is a very small country that has just celebrated their 28th year of independence located between Guatemala and the Caribbean Sea. It is just south of the Yucatan peninsula. The country is mostly primitive and very beautiful. It is scattered with Mayan ruins. Belize has a variety of wildlife both from the jungle and the sea. It boasts the second largest coral reef in the world.

In Belize the children in 8th grade take a test and if they don't pass they don't get to go on to high school. The Friends Boys School was founded to help the boys that are in the most need to get them ready for the test.

The couple that is now running the school is from Iowa and have 4 children ranging in age from 7 years to 16 years old.

Two assistants are accompanying me. Sophia Aley, a practice member whose story you may have read in an earlier blog and Betsy English, my bonus daughter, who has grown up receiving chiropractic care. We are so excited to bring B.E.S.T. to Belize!

So I am asking for your help to create this mission. We need to raise $3450. This includes our airfare, transportation while in Belize, food and lodging. We plan to work with the school from April 13th -20th with a couple of days at the end for seeing the Mayan ruins and the coral reef.

You can make a tax deductible donation to West Branch Friends Church with Belize trip in the memo line of your check and send it to:

These words of Jesus have been the foundation for my practice:
John 14:12-14 from The Message
"The person who trusts me will not only do what I'm doing but even greater things, because I, on my way to the Father am giving you the same work to do that I've been doing. You can count on it. From now on, whatever you request along the lines of who I am and what I am doing, I'll do it. That's how the Father will be seen for who he is in the Son. I mean it. Whatever you request in this way, I'll do it."
